Up & Over garage doors are single or double panel. As the door is opened it moves as a single piece into a horizontal position overhead. Up & Over doors can be supplied in either the Canopy or the Retractable type:
Canopy
With the canopy design there are no tracks to protrude into the garage space - the canopy door mechanism is contained within the door frame. In the open position the door forms a 'canopy' over the garage door opening. Canopy doors are not ideal for automation.
Retractable
Retractable doors slide back on horizontal tracks, which extend into the garage space. When fully opened, most of the door is contained within the garage space. The 'Fully Retractable' mechanism is ideally suited to automatic operation.
 Materials
Steel Up & Over Garage Doors. The ever popular up & over steel doors supplied by Lakes Garage Doors are galvanized with a full paint finish and a choice of colours or with the latest plastic woodgrain foils. All the doors we sell are manufactured in the UK or Germany and are fully guaranteed – we do not sell inferior Eastern European manufactured doors.
GRP Up & Over Garage Doors. (Glass Reinforced Polyester), better known as Fibreglass. These doors come in two basic finishes; woodgrain and white gloss. The woodgrain designs create very realistically a timber door without the drawback of the maintenance of the real thing. All designs are available in a wide range of colours. The white gloss designs have a brilliant, smooth, shiny appearance and come in a variety of designs. The manufacture of fiberglass doors is labour intensive. This makes them more expensive than steel.
Timber Up & Over Garage Doors. Timber doors are mainly manufactured using cedar wood a durable and naturally rot resistant timber with beautiful natural colours. These doors are available in a large range of designs and Lakes Garage Doors can even have bespoke garage doors made for you using your own design. |
